What is the rarest butterfly in the world?

There are many rare butterflies. Some are seldom seen because they live in the tops of trees in forests. Others have only a few places where they are found but are found in remote parts of the world where more of them may be found elsewhere eventually.

One of the best claims for the rarest butterfly is the Palos Verdes Blue. It is found only on one site in the middle of thousands of houses in Los Angeles and was thought to be extinct for 11 years until someone discovered it again.
