Swansea FoE are looking at a proposal for a Biomass Power Station in the Docks at Swansea. This is a proposal for a wood burning blant, which would generate up to 50 KW of electricity from wood in the form of wood chips and pellets. 75 % of the timber is proposed to be imported. The other 25% is proposed to be sourced within 100 miles. Which includes most of the rest of Wales, some of the Midlands and the South West.
Swansea FoE is still looking into this matter, we do have a number of questions that need answering, including the effect on Crymlyn Bog, which is a Ramsar Site, SAC and National Nature Reserve.
